En route pour le Tunisie, le cargo fait alors escale dans le port phare de la pointe Bretagne afin de réparer une avarie sur son moteur.
Après visite des autorités portuaires, un manque flagrant de sécurité est constaté. Décision administrative est prise d'immobiliser le cargo à quai.
Après deux années d'escale forcée. l'arrivée providentielle d'un mécanicien annonce une reprise en main du bateau par un nouveau propriétaire.
Mission est ainsi confiée à Claude Foko, chef mécanicien camerounais, de convoyer Ebba Victor depuis Brest jusqu'à Douala au Cameroun.
Pas de contrat de travail mais seulement la parole d'un employeur qui inspire confiance.
"J'étais parti pour trois ou quatre mois maximum mon épouse attendait des jumeaux. J'étais encore confiant" Lorsque le mécanicien arrive sur le cargo abandonné à Brest, Claude Foko se retrouve seul à bord d'un navire en sale état.
Personne ne le rejoindra.

After two years of forced stop, the providential arrival of a mechanic announces takeover of the ship by a new owner. Mission is thus entrusted to Claude Foko, Cameroonian chief mechanic, conveying Ebba Victor from Brest to Douala in Cameroon. The owner orally regulates the conditions of this new board position.
No employment contract but only the word of an employer that inspires confidence.

When the engineer enters the abandoned cargo in Brest. Claude Foko finds himself alone on a ship in bad shape.
